Tourism Research Australia has produced a profile of the Cowra Local Government Areas outlining the number of domestic/international visitors, overnight stays, and average visitor spend.
Cowra's 2018 profile has seen several improvements over 2017, with a 23 per cent increase in visitors, a 12 per cent increase in overnight stays and the overall annual spend up by 18 per cent from $43 million to $51 million.
Cowra Mayor Bill West said the figures were encouraging to see.
"The 2018 figures are a testament to the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of Cowra Tourism staff and board members," he said.
"Along with our local businesses and community organisations that ensure our town is a great place to visit.
"Our diversity in activities and location within the Central West makes us an ideal tourism destination for visitors. Tourism is not only an important economic driver for our local economy, but it also helps to promote potential investment opportunities within our community."
Cowra Tourism Chairman, Cr Ray Walsh was also pleased with the results.
"The increase in visitors and dollars spent has greatly assisted our Shire at a time of drought and economic uncertainty," he said.
"The increase in visitor numbers is exciting for our wonderful staff at the Visitor Information Centre who work so hard to welcome and assist visitors.
"I also want to acknowledge the Cowra Japanese Gardens, Cowra Van Park, the coffee shops, restaurants and accommodation providers who have all played a part in this success."
