The senior men's side has one game left for the year, and coach Ben Rodin said the focus for the last fortnight was pretty straightforward.
"At this time of the year, for a team building from the ground up and trying to find what it needs to sustain itself beyond this year, it's important we don't lose focus of how our internal goals and the improvement we can make even when the result doesn't go our way," the first-year coach said.
In that case, the continued improvement of youngsters such as Alain Bizimana and Olivier Bizmani, who were among the better players on the day, as well as a new role in defence for wingman Scott Leary, meant that the day out, far from being a futile exercise, ended up being one where there were positives, despite the comprehensive loss.
"They're a team that is red-hot and really looking to have a crack at the pointy end of the season, and they're filled with players that are a couple of years ahead of where want to be.
"Under the circumstances, for the likes of Alain and Olivier to show off the benefits of their ongoing effort at training is super exciting, while Skoda Leary has added another string to his bow for the future by moving down back," he said.
The Blues have one last game against the Bathurst Giants, who feature several familiar old Blues, but the coach says the aim will be much the same as this week.
"We're still building the skill and the polish for the future, but we have four more quarters left to show the competition that our commitment to attacking the ball, working selflessly, and most importantly, having fun and enjoying each other's company, is as strong as any one else playing out this way.
