While Mrs Gough has been playing hand drums and the ukulele for ten years, most of her group have only been playing their instruments for one to 12 months.
Mrs Gough said the performance was a treat for the group to show off how far they had come.
“It’s been a way to show what we have learned in the last twelve months,” she said.
“We did a flash mob last Friday, performed at the Woodstock Bowling Club last Saturday, Monday at Bilyara and we didn’t want Weeroona to miss out so we booked in here.
“It’s a lot of fun and achievable for all ages,” she said.
Mrs Gough said the popularity of ukulele and hand drumming was increasing throughout Australia.
“It’s a group environment where you can feel comfortable, equal and people of all ages can connect,” she said.
“There are a lot of benefits you gain from drumming and ukulele in the group, social interaction and emotional regulation.
“They use the drums in rehabilitation centers because it’s so powerful.”
Ms Gough thanked all the members for their hard work in 2018 and welcomed them and any new faces to join the group in 2019.
She also thanked the PCYC for helping secure funding for the group through the Country Arts Support Program.
The group will return in February 2019 if you would like to join them call 0427 471 696 or visit www.harmoniegroupfacilitation.com
