The Cowra Show is quickly approaching its new opening date on October 14, with an emphasis on returning to its agricultural roots.

One event bringing the show back to those roots will be the COPES Woodchop competition.
Entries have already started to come in, with the NSW Axemans Secretary Chris Delosa expecting up to 30 competitors to take part on the day.
Held on Sunday, October 15, from 10am there will be a number of prizes available totaling $2,200.
Events on offer are:
- The 250mm Standing Block Championship, First $350, Second $150, Third $100
- The 300mm Underhand Handicap, First $250, Second $100, Third $50
- The 300mm Standing Block Handicap, First $250, Second $100, Third $50
- The 275mm Underhand Handicap, First $250, Second $100, Third $50
- The 250/275mm S/B and U/H 2 man relay, First $250, Second $100, Third $50
