Gale force northwesterly winds are being generated ahead of an approaching cold front.
The front will cross southeast New South Wales this morning, accompanied by a broader area of vigorous westerly winds.
The winds are also bringing heavy rain to some parts, including Cowra this morning.
Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads.
