
On Friday night at the Services Club there was a massive number of snooker players. Sixteen teams with 12 players from out of town played due to the tournament on the weekend.

All highly ranked teams were knocked out early with Patti Chapple and Dave Smith versus Ray Salisbury and Ray Thrumble in the final.
David and Patti outplayed their rivals to win 55-23. Well done Pat, you did it, girl.
Cowra Doubles Tournament
Saturday and Sunday was the running of Cowra’s Doubles Snooker Championship.
There were 33 teams, so many intact that a fourth table was put up to accommodate the numbers.
On Saturday every team played four frames, all games played out to the black ball to give the total aggregate for the day.
The turn up from Cowra was heavy, with 14 players, the top 16 going through to Sunday.
Shayne Dawes and Dave Riley were unbeaten on Saturaday with four wins, Joe Verzi and Jack Chapple won three of their four games in fourth place.
Other results-
Bill Dawes and Ronny Hill qualified. Tony Marsh and Robbie Byrnes also qualified.
Mark Rush, Pros Soun with out of town hook ups also qualified for Sunday.
Peter Verzi, Andrew McGuiness, Rick Boswell, Di Spring, Steve Ingram, Shane Lauritzen and Wayne and Ray Thrumble all played well but didn’t make play on Sunday.
Play started at 9am on Sunday, favourites for the tournament in Shayne Dawes and Dave Riley were knocked out early by Mark Rush and Chris Baker.
Joe Verzi and Jack Chapple played good snooker together making the semi-finals but lost two frames to one frames to young apprentices in Scott Middleton and Denzel Nicholson. The final started about 6pm and was the best of five frames.
It was Scotty Middleton and Denzel Nicholson versus Pros Soun and Peter Warner. Pros and Peter played good together winning the final three frames to two.
Well done Pros who is from Cowra, you played exceptional snooker. You still have a few days to play your first round of A, B and C grade and billiards.
The 20 week tournament is in it’s 14th week, top 16 play off for $1000.
Friday night, August 11, snooker is on as usual. Names in by 6.15pm. Also Sunday snooker will also be on August 13, names in by 10.30am. See you next week in snooker news.
