Locals were treated to a sight on Tuesday and Wednesday as Percy the Pig rolled into town as a part of the Pig Push fundraiser for the Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF), which helps out rural students with scholarships and assistance.
CEF Chairman Nick Eurton Taylor said the Pig Push has brought a lot of small communities together.
“It’s a wonderful linkage between the communities,” he said.
“The community understands what young people are going through and put their hands in their pockets.”
A number of locals joined in on the effort, with the Cowra Eagles leading the charge on Wednesday morning en route to Canowindra and onto Orange.
Local Michael Flannery said he decided to have a go after the group stopped by at his property from Darbys Falls.
“I’m a big believer that if you live in a small town, you support country towns.”
