The series of seven information seminars held on Tuesday nights from September 1 will show the local building and construction industry how to successfully tender for Government contracts, Cowra Council's Business Development Officer and course host, Ponie de Wet explained.
"If you've always wanted to tender for Government work but didn't feel you had the know-how, now's your chance to get the knowledge and 'have a go'," Ponie said.
The free seminars will be held in Council's Multi-Purpose Function Room, Darling Street (adjoining the Cowra Public Library and Art Gallery) and will commence at 6pm (snacks from 5.30pm) and finish before 7.30pm.
"The seminars will introduce local businesses to the documentation required by Federal, State and Local Government when out-sourcing work or providing grant funding. There will also be a question-and-answer session after each presentation," Ponie explained.
"Topics covered will include project management and contract administration including how to prepare expressions of Interest (EOI); Quotations (RFQ); and Tenders (RFT) for a typical contract,"
The course is aimed at local businesses with an interest in gaining contract work from Local, State and Federal Government agencies or from any staff of Government agencies responsible for managing private sector contractors.
Cowra Council's Project Manager Dave Smith will be Session Chairman and Lead Presenter with representatives from Local Government Procurement, NSW Public Works and local businesses.
The series has been developed in response to a request from Cowra Building and Construction Group. Cowra Council is sponsoring the seminars as an extension of the highly-successful Cowra Entrepreneur initiative.
"If you've ever wanted to tender for any Government work or you want to submit a grant application for Government funding, I urge you to come along and have a look," Ponie concluded. For more information and to register call Ponie on 6340 2038, mobile 0407 234 49, email pdewet@cowra.nsw.gov.au.
