The seminar which was coordinated by Cowra High School's head teacher of welfare, Meg Robinson, was held at the Cowra Services Club.
Students completed a wide variety of exercises to get them thinking about how they could become a leader.
Matt Kershaw of Brisbane based company Y-lead was the speaker on the day.
"When I was 19 I went into hospital for an operation; as I was staring at the ceiling I thought to myself if I die today what would my legacy be,'" he said.
"It was then I realised I had never really done anything.
"When I came out of hospital I worked toward building that legacy.
"I was never a leader at school, proof that anyone can lead."
Mr Kershaw's suggestions on how to find a way to lead were inspiring for the students.
The five steps showed that anyone can become a leader.
Those steps included finding a passion, challenging yourself, recruiting a mentor, making a plan and taking action.
The seminar was put on thanks to funding from the NSW Youth Opportunities Program.
