Olivia McNamara proudly represented the Canowindra Show Society as their 2025 Young Woman at The Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Zone 6 Final, held in Eugowra last Saturday.
The event, part of the AgShows NSW Young Woman competition, brings together inspiring young women from across the region to celebrate leadership, community involvement and the strength of rural shows.
While Olivia did not progress to the next stage of the competition, her time at the Zone Final marked a proud moment for both herself and the Canowindra community, especially as she now prepares for an exciting overseas adventure.
Reflecting on the experience, Olivia described the day as both rewarding and inspiring.
“It was a long day, but very worthwhile,” she said.
“It was interesting to hear all the amazing things all the young women are doing in their community.”
“I am proud to have represented Canowindra.”
“It’s a beautiful community, one that I am so proud to be a part of,” she said.
Olivia said one of the highlights of the event was the fellowship among the finalists.
“A highlight for me was asking each of the girls how their interview went,” she said.
“I was so pleased for everyone, as they all seemed to have a really great experience.”
Olivia was joined on the night by a strong group of supporters, highlighting the close knit nature of the Canowindra community.
Alongside her parents, Kylie and Ken McNamara, she was supported by James, Kylie and Rianna Reeves, as well as Jo Balcome, and Billy and Bernadette Watson.
“I’m so grateful that community members were able to join me on the night,” Olivia said.
Their presence, she said, reinforced the pride she feels in representing her hometown.
Although her journey in the 2025 competition has come to an end, Olivia is already looking toward the future.
“Next move is once I return from my overseas adventure, I am hoping to influence more young ladies in our Canowindra community to do this experience,” she said.
“I would also love to put our community strength together and organise a special event for all the women and celebrate what our Ag shows offer.”
With her passion for community and rural traditions evident, Olivia’s involvement in the Zone 6 Final stands as a testament to the leadership and spirit fostered by local agricultural shows.
