To say Hayes enjoyed a strong 2019 is an understatement.
He captained the Western NSW Talented Sports Programme (TSP) Squad for the Coast Cup, while continuing his ongoing involvement with the Orange-based Western NSW TSP programme.
He also trialled with the NPL's Sydney Olympic Under 16s - additionally participating with the German Bundesliga Schalke FC Academy - over a three day period earlier in the year.
He played in an under 20s NPL match for Gungahlin, and was named as the under 16s team's Most Valuable Player at the team's end of year presentation. He was also the co-captain of the latter team.
He was nominated as Cowra's Sportsperson of the Year, winning the Scholarship Award for the 2018-19 period, and continues to referee for the Cowra District Soccer Club when his schedule permits.
Hayes racked up plenty of mileage, making up to three trips a week from Cowra to Canberra and back, but nevertheless aims to keep improving in season 2020.
