With strong bowling from Ky Johnson helping to contain the run-rate, and leave Morongla all out for just 108, one would be forgiven for thinking that the Valleys were going to have it all their own way.
But early on in the Valleys' run chase it was clear that the day was going to be a bit of grind, wickets to Tom McNamara (8), Jake Miller (9) and Jarrod Mason (7) leaving the team at 3/41 after 16 overs.
Eventually though, the team found their feet, with Sam Long hitting a steadying 23 and Jackson Moodie hitting a quick-fire 28 (including five fours and a six), the latter's contribution meaning effectively leaving the game in his side's control when he was dismissed, with only 23 runs needed for victory.
There continued to be hiccups though. Angus McFarland was run out the following over, leaving Isaac Steel and Ky Johnson to guide the team home to victory.
For Morongla, Tom Doolan (2/10) and Mitchell Amos (1/25) were the pick of the bowlers, but it simply wasn't to be, the side's score while batting too small to defend.
Bowling Club undefeated
The Bowling Club made it four from four after last week's routing against the Valleys, as the evergreen Dave Howarth starred with both the bat and the ball in the five wicket victory against Grenfell White at Henry Lawson Oval.
Howarth top-scored 79 and took 1/25 in the victory, the Bowling Club chasing down the 194 runs to win with slightly more than five overs remaining.
Sent into the field by the hosts after they won the toss, Charlie Mitton's unbeaten 89 and a half century to Joshua Knight helped put the game on their terms, the run rate moving at just under five-and-a-half an over and leaving the visitors with plenty to ponder at the innings change.
While Howarth's economy was crucial, so too was Paul Basham's 2/47, the skipper getting the crucial wicket of Knight, keeping the visitors in touch.
Nevertheless, when they went out to bat, Howarth, hitting 79 runs, made sure it was the Bowling Club's day, though contributions from Basham (24), Jackson McLeish (31 not out) and Josh Chamberlain (23) helped to ensure the team's unbeaten run would continue.
The Bowling Club will enjoy a bye this week; the Valleys host Grenfell Blue at Oliver Oval, and Morongla play Grenfell White at Twigg Oval.
