Brett Michael Binder of Reids Flat Road was before the court charged with driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, using an unregistered registerable motor vehicle, using an uninsured motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle with an unauthorised number plate and driving with an illicit drug present in his blood.
According to police facts around 3pm on November 1, 2018, police were patrolling the Lachlan Valley Way when they detected a Hyundai sedan traveling 106km/h in a speed restriction area.
The vehicle was displaying a registration plate which police checks revealed belonged to a Holden station wagon and expired in 2016.
Police stopped the vehicle and asked Binder for a licence. He was unable to produce one and admitted to being unlicensed. Police checks found he was disqualified until January 2019.
Binder was subjected to a roadside drug test which returned a positive reading to methylamphetamine.
A secondary test also returned a positive reading to methylamphetamine. In relation to his drug taking Binder told police, "I had some about two weeks ago".
Binder, who represented himself, told the court moving out of town had assisted him with not offending again. In sentencing Magistrate Michael O'Brian said Binder's record didn't assist him.
"When your driving privileges are taken, they are gone, otherwise there would be no point behind disqualifications," he said.
"These offences carry a $5500 fine, 12-months imprisonment, 12-month disqualification... everytime you get behind the wheel that is the penalty that awaits you."
