Cowra Japanese Garden manager Justin Smith said the run attracted 179 runners all up, 70 of whom registered on the day.
"We had a good response from locals, we had quite a few spectators there too," Mr Smith said.
"It was a tricky track with a few hills involved. We tried to incorporate the new track into the course so locals could test it out."
Local runner Jacquie Dolbel did the five-kilometre track in 28 minutes and said she enjoyed the challenge.
"It was hard. I was surprised at how many people were there. The course was mapped out really well," Jacquie said.
"I thought the race was really good because people had prams and had their little fellows on bikes, it was really nice."
Although Mr Smith said there were a few hiccups on the day, the organising committee is already looking at next year's event, with a separate event potentially to go on the calendar that would be similar to the Tough Mudder obstacle run.
Jacquie said an event like that would be popular with local runners and attract plenty more to the region.
"I like it because it's a physical challenge," she said. "It would be awesome for Cowra to have something like that."
