Mystery abounds at the Rose Street Little Theatre

By Anita Edwards

First, a disclaimer: Midsummer’s Murder is in no way related to the TV series, Midsomer Murders. There is a possible murder, but in a middle-class city suburb, and the sleuths are 4 Book Club ladies.

At this point, we need another disclaimer: our ladies bear no resemblance to any Grenfell book club members, none of whom, to our knowledge, investigate possible murders.

Scott Badman (who debuted in Cosi and has been involved on and off stage ever since) is the suspected murderer, and Jaime Elms (one of the Jewish Widows in The Cemetery Club) is his unsuspecting wife.

The book club ladies are Di Donohue (most recently in Opportunity Knocks, and has enjoyed many other comedic roles), Cathy Gilbert (latest roles in Shorts), Jessica Gardner (debuted in Motherhood) and Anita Edwards (her first role with the Society).

Our director is Stephen Griffin, a member of the Society for 55 years; therefore has extensive experience in all aspects of stagecraft.

A reminder that performance dates are Friday, 17 October at 8 p.m., Saturday, 18 October at 8 p.m., and Sunday 19 October matinee at 2 p.m. Seating is cabaret-style tables of 6.

Bookings are open from Tuesday, 23 September, from Raine & Horne, and tickets are $10 each for adults and $15 each for high school students.
