How many members do you have?
Off and on, we've probably got about 15 members. Probably about half of those are active on a regular basis.
What's been your toughest fire?
Ever since I've been captain of this brigade we haven't had a tough fire, but there's been fires in the back woods of Wyangala. They're always tough fires just because of the terrain; they're difficult to get to. Access to water, difficult terrain, they're the issues we have around here.
Why do you volunteer?
Just to give back to the community. To try and give back. It's a good thing for people to do. They learn a new skill set. Also, in a small community like this, you've got to look after each other.
What does your community mean to you?
I like living in Wyangala because of the quietness. It's close enough to Cowra, and you're close to all the facilities. It's relaxing and you've got the advantage and the benefits of being close to the dam.
