How many members do you have?
Probably 40 or 50 and about 25 or 30 active members.
What's been your toughest fire?
That's a hard one. We've had so many fires over the years. I think one of the hardest fires I've been involved with was the one at Merriganowry all those years ago. It was seven or eight kilometers across and pretty out of hand.
Why do you volunteer?
It's just the sort of thing you did when you were a young bloke.
I was interested in putting fires out. I don't like fire.
It's so destructive.
We all volunteered; it's just something that country people tend to do.
What does your community mean to you?
My community, to me, is second only to my personal family.
I think you'll find a lot of people around here will feel the same way.
Community is very high on their lists.
