Rowntree has been named Cowra's Australia Day Ambassador and will be on hand on January 26 for events across the shire, including the traditional morning ceremony.
Speaking to ABC Radio late last year, Rowntree, who has been an Australia Day Ambassador since the early 1990s, said she always hopes to land in rural and regional parts of the country.
"I think I've been an Australia Day Ambassador for, I hate to say it, nearly 30 years," she said.
"And now I have one diva request - I ask could you please send me to a country town.
"There is nothing more beautiful than going to a country town in Australia on Australia Day."
Rowntree said she was looking forward to joining the Cowra community for the celebrations.
"I'm heading off to Cowra this year... I'm going to drop into Boorowa, to Young on my drive through there. I'm going to make it a huge drive trip," she said.
"Everybody gets together, the whole community gets together. You do citizenship ceremonies, you have the beautiful barbie in the morning and it's a delight.
"It really is a delight and I'm so proud to be a part of it.
"It's an honour to be asked and I really enjoy it."
