ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WRAP-UP
In other club news, our Annual General Meeting was held this week and there was a change within the committee. Tony Lofthouse is taking over the role of President from Dave Fermor. Dave has been with the club for many years and president for most of that time. Unfortunately his health and work commitments over the last couple of years have made it difficult for Dave to get to club events at times, and in his address to the meeting he thanked all of the committee for stepping up and helping out with the smooth running of the club. Dave will continue to work with the club in his new role as Vice President which he will share with Maurice Nicholson.

RIDE REPORTS
The trail riders have been busy doing what we love, even over the winter months.
Despite a chilly start on a late winter morning, 18 riders saddled up for our July ride from Sutherlands to Koorawatha Weir and back. But the sun came out and the Corella's chorused as the group set out across the paddocks at the start of the 20km ride.
Through the paddocks, along the roadside, into the village and Koorawatha and eventually to the Reserve and Koorawatha Weir. Ride organisers Steven and Bronwyn did a great job, including having a back up crew with a horse float which was very handy when a couple of riders had little issues and had to cut their ride short and head back to base.
The Reserve track is pretty narrow and tricky to share with vehicles and horses, but our escort vehicle kept everyone safe. The horses appreciated a rest and the riders appreciated their morning tea stop at the Weir. Once refreshed, it was time to mount up and head home.

There were some very sweaty horses at the end of a big ride, and a few tired riders too! The promise of hot curry for lunch kept most riders around the bonfire chatting for a while - and the lunch was certainly worth waiting for! It seems this ride is going to become an annual favorite.
By the end of August the weather was showing glimpses of warmer days to come and conditions on our ride day were very pleasant. But despite the sunshine only a handful of riders made it for the ride in Roseberg Forest.
The little group wandered single file following motor bike trails through the native forest before hitting the more open fire trails in the pine forest. It was a lovely relaxed ride, just walking down the trail with lots of chatting amongst the group.
Towards the end of the pine forest track each rider in the group took the chance to have a lovely long canter up one of the hills which all the horses and riders thoroughly enjoyed. Back at the floats there was no need to light the prepared bonfire as the sun was bright and warm, and the lunch was lovely too.
