Local personal trainers Bec Kurtz and Ryan Downing will be conducting 15 minute health assessments on Saturday, June 23 at RAD Personal Training. Participants also encouraged to donate, with all funds raised on the day going towards the Cowra Cancer Action Group.
“If people wanted to give a $1, if they wanted to give $20, they could give whatever they wanted to and then we give all that to the Cowra Cancer Action Group and that way, we might end up giving them $50, we might end up giving them a few hundred,” Bec said.
Bec said the assessments are designed to show people how healthy they are and to help them potentially change their lifestyle.
“Obviously both of us are passionate about educating and helping people become aware about preventative health,” she said.
“If we can have a few people go “wow, well we will start doing something about this”... then that’s really beneficial rather than being on the other side of ill health.”
The assessments will involve measuring resting heart rate, blood pressure, girth and hip measurements, using a bioelectrical impedance machine, skin fold tests, leg strength test and a balance assessment however all tests are optional.
“All of these things can be reversible if you get onto them early enough,” Bec said.
“We give them their results then the normative data, so they can see where they are by comparison… It’s up to them whether they choose to do anything out of that but at least they have that little bit of insight or awareness.”
The team is booked up until 10.45am on Saturday however are taking bookings for after that time. Bookings are essential, please contact either Bec on 0427 456 418 or Ryan on 0488 709 839.
