This free event is aimed at emerging health issues and coincides with World Health Day on April 7, World Parkinson’s Day on April 11 and also Senior Citizens Week.
Cowra Parkinson’s Support has been in place for 17 years and has fundraised with great support throughout the community of Cowra on a wide variety of events.
A small film involving all members, family, carers and community citizens involving the Cowra Peace Bell to source a cure which was submitted in a worldwide competition to New York, USA for judging.
Cowra Parkinson’s Support were highly commended, gaining two tickets to the World Convention for Parkinson’s Disease in Montreal, Canada during the year 2010.
Norway was the winning country.
Members from Cowra Parkinson’s Support participated in Australia’s First Unity Walk for Parkinson’s ten years ago.
Ever since the inauguration of the walk, it has gathered a large momentum throughout Australia and the world, raising funds through sponsorship.
Cowra has hosted seminars and members when they are able to attend state conferences. On Monday, April 9 Cowra Parkinson’s Support will meet for afternoon tea, 3pm at the Cowra Japanese Garden.
World Parkinson’s Day celebrates the original birthday of James Parkinson.
