Addressing the healthy crowd in attendance, Cowra RSL Sub branch president Bob Dooley thanked all for attending.
“It’s one of the biggest Remembrance Day attendances we’ve had in a long time,” Mr Dooley said reflecting on “the five long years of killing and maiming” of the conflict which ended on November 11, 1918.
“Usually we only get around the 20 people mark, so thank you for turning up this morning,” Mr Dooley said of the 99th Remembrance Day service.
Cowra mayor Bill West; vice president of the Cowra RSL Sub branch Mr John Kelly; Lachlan Legacy representative Mr Ray Walsh; members of Cowra State Emergency Services and; Cpl Craig Simpson, on behalf of all members of the Australian Defence Force past and present, took part in the wreath laying service held at the Cowra Cenotaph in front of the Services Club.
