A Spring storm struck Cowra on Thursday bringing with it strong winds, heavy downpours and eventually blacking out the entire town.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology Cowra received 21mm of rain during the storm but the falls were variable from one side of town to the other and throughout the district.
One Guardian reader, Franky Bright reported just 10ml at Chiverton on the Grenfell Road, while others recorded 92ml at Woodstock.
Along the Darbys Falls Road the Johnston family received less than 1ml compared with a reading of 26ml by the Jones family less than 1km away.
Laura Hambrook, who was delivering pizzas for 131 Pizza on Thursday evening said: “I was the delivery chick last night and I'm not surprised at all the different readings, I delivered to Taragala it wasn't raining to bad, then I delivered to Muylan street and it was close to flooding at the same time.”
Peter Mills reported 28ml in Stewart St; Ashley O'Leary tipped 50ml out of the gauge; Julie Clements 30 mls at Binni Creek;Joy Neville 35ml on River Park Road near the MET school; Julie-Ann Leonard Dromgold 60ml on the outskirts of Woodstock; Fiona Gallagher 40ml Binni Creek Road; Kat Williams only 6mls in Billimari; Maggie Wright’s gauge showed 44ml, in North Cowra; Gail Swain of Woodstock had 92ml in her gauge; Joanne Susan Brooks 50 mls in London Drive; Marion Mitchell 16mls on North Logan Rd; Cassie Scammell just 2ml, 5km east of Cowra; Mark Savva said he had just “6 spots” at Koorawatha and; Jody Lee Dunn reported Greenethorpe missed all of the storm. Another reader, Greg Kirk, reported 53mls at Wyangala Dam.
A lightning strike caused power disruptions to thousands of Cowra and Canowindra residents early on Friday morning with more than 7000 connections disrupted in the towns.
The power was restored in Cowra by 7am but did not return in Canowindra until late in the morning.
Essential Energy said the main powerline to the area was damaged after a lightning strike on Friday morning. More settled conditions are forecast this week.Manage
