RFS volunteers have been protecting local communities from bush and grass fires for more than 100 years.
Today, RFS volunteers attend a range of emergencies like bush and grass fires, house and structure fires, road accidents as well as provide assistance at other events like floods, storms and searches.
Kangaroo Flat Senior Deputy Captain Ben Ware said brigades needed volunteers in a number of roles.
“We offer some great training, it’s also a great opportunity to meet people and learn new skills,” he said.
“We’d like firefighters, but we also need volunteers to do other non firefighting roles such as catering, communications, aviation support, logistical support and incident control”.
