This year’s Classic has been brought forward to September 9 to fit in with Gooloogong’s busy farming schedule.
The new date will also suit a lot of local cricketers as it falls prior to the start of the local cricket season.
In previous years, the Classic, which has run non-stop for nearly 40 years, has been held in October and organisers are hoping the new date will reinvigorate the event.
Even last year’s floods couldn’t prevent the event from going ahead, although organisers are hoping for a better turn out for this year’s event, after just 14 teams took part last year.
The Classic is open to teams of four with entry of $50 per team payable on the day.
Your team can consist of four men or four women or be mixed with prizes for all combinations of teams.
Teams take part in four sports during the day, which starts at 9am.
The sports are bowls, cricket, tennis and golf with high scores the order of the day.
The overall winner will take home a $400 cash prize with the runner up team sharing $200.
The winner of each sport will receive $100 and the winning mens, ladies, mixed and junior teams will also receive $100.
There is also a trophy for the best dressed team on the day.
Importantly, each team can only win one cash prize on the day so a lot of teams will leave Goolie with a prize.
Participants who want to make a weekend of it can camp at the club grounds as toilet and shower facilities will be available.
And the club bistro is open all day on Saturday to keep the hungry hordes fed and watered.
No alcohol can be brought onto Club grounds.
