Active Farmers is a program for farmers to improve their physical and mental health developed by Ginny Stevens.
Ms Stevens grew up on a farm in Tasmania and has always been passionate about agriculture and staying active.
Ms Stevens developed the program as she was concerned about the level of depression in rural communities.
Through exercise and interaction, participants become more aware of their health and develop a greater sense of community.
Ms Stevens’ philosophy is that the more people who understand the connection between being physically fit and well connected within their community and being mentally strong the better.
Ms Stevens has made the decision to expand Active Farmers so that as many country towns in regional areas throughout Australia can have access to the service as possible.
To celebrate the introduction of Active Farmers by Tory Nicholas to Cowra, Active farmers in conjunction with Cowra Bring Healthy Back are going to be running a free Active Farmer class on Sunday, February 19 at Brougham Park.
The class will then be followed by a gold coin donation breakfast with donations going to local charity Headspace.
The event will be suitable for all levels of fitness and ability.
All families, friends, farmers and Cowra residents are encouraged to come down for what will be a very fun morning.
