Squadron Leader Adrian Kiely, a former Holmwood Public School student was in the Central West on Tuesday, December 6 conducting navigation training exercises and treated the current students of Holmwood Public School to an adrenaline fuelled treat by conducting a flypast mid afternoon.
Relieving Holmwood Principal Kim Smith said the flypast set a great example for the students to achieve what they want.
"It (the flypast) was adrenaline-seeking, it was fantastic for the kids to be allowed to see a former Holmwood Public student and to aim high, dream big," she said.
"It is encouraging the students to be able to do whatever they want to do."
Squadron Leader Kiely’s flypast saw him take his F/A-18 Hornet over the school travelling around 600m and reaching speeds up to 800km/h.
He then conducted a circuit and low-level flight over Cowra Airport before returning to RAAF Base Williamtown, near Newcastle.
