After a foggy start to the morning five club riders, two visitors from Gooloogong Trail Riders and three new day riders hit the trail.
As per our permit, granted by National Parks and Wildlife Service, the group headed off down the main trail through the park for a couple of hours riding.
The National Park covers some lovely country with the main track winding initially through open countryside then into the great Aussie bush, which gets pretty rugged and increasingly hilly as you pass through the park.
By lunchtime the promise of home-made soup and rolls drew us back to the floats where our lovely helpers had lunch waiting- topped off with a cuppa and yummy slice.
It was great to ride in a new location with such varied terrain and everyone enjoyed themselves. So much so that we are planning a camp over and longer ride for later this year.
The July ride was held at the property of club member Maurice Nicholson, on the Grenfell road.
The nine riders who attended travelled around the paddocks and along Back creek for about two hours.
It was very wet underfoot and several of the riders joked that Maurice might like to try growing rice!
A large puddle at the end of the ride proved great fun for a few riders and their horses seeing who could create the biggest spray of water whilst cantering through.
Fortunately the rain held off long enough for us to enjoy a great BBQ lunch before we hurried to load the horses and head home as the storm hit.
The next ride club ride will be held this Sunday (August 30) at a property at Billimari.

The next meeting of the Cowra and District Trail Horse Riders Club will be held on Monday October 12 at the Cowra Services Club commencing at 7.30pm (dinner at 6.30pm).
