The members of the Evening Branch of the Cowra Country Women's Association are looking forward to a productive year of friendship, fundraising and working with Cowra and its residents for the benefit of everyone.
The Branch is looking forward to being involved in Cowra's Festival of International Understanding with the March meeting (11th March) being devoted to a celebration of this year's Guest Nation, South Korea, to which members, their guests and interested townspeople will be welcome.
Members will also be involved in the South West Group meetings; the Land Cookery competition; the State Conference in Tamworth; the Cabaret Night (2nd May) involving Lions, Rotary and CWA Evening Branch, the proceeds from which will be donated to local organisations; the Royal Easter Show as CWA volunteers; Relay for Life; and other activities that are in the planning stages.
Each year, all member branches in New South Wales are encouraged to broaden their horizons by studying various environmental and world issues and, in 2015, the country of study is Italy; the primary product is Beetroot; the flora is Boronia and the Fauna is the Butterfly. Each branch studies these topics in their own way - special days, guest speakers, preparing a book and dressing a doll about the country etc. In 2014, the Cowra Evening Branch won the International Book and International Doll for Botswana and these will be presented for judging at the State Conference representing South West Group.
All fundraising activities will be publicised during the year and the Cowra community will be welcome to be involved.
The first meeting of the Cowra CWA Evening Branch for 2015 will be held on Wednesday, 11th February at the Cowra Services Club and the main agenda item will be the distribution of funds raised in 2015.
New members are always welcome and are encouraged to contact the President (Jean Sandberg - 0417529880) if they would like to attend our meetings.
