The two extra practice nets and upgrade of existing areas was a joint project undertaken by Cowra's junior and senior cricket associations, Cowra Sports Council and Cowra Shire Council.
Mayor Bill West said it was a great example of what can be done when the community comes together.
"A few of us remember many years ago that there wasn't much here," he said at the opening.
"Whilst Council had something to do with the completion of the nets, I'd like to acknowledge the contribution of the Junior and Senior Cricket associations - it is a great credit to you and it shows what you can do if you want to get something done.
"Also credit goes to the Sports Council and the ongoing success of the role they play in maintaining the infrastructure for sporting organisations.
"I've had many happy hours down at these nets playing cricket here and I hope the next generation get as much enjoyments and as much fun over the years to come and maybe we can unearth another Daniel Hughes or Nick Berry and someone can go to a higher level and another honour.
"It's an absolute pleasure to see this come to fruition and congratulations to all those involved."
Driving Force behind the extension and upgrade, Cowra Junior Cricket Association president Terry Johns, said the project was three years in the making and acknowledged the support of Council, the Sports Council, Owen Gillespie from Lachlan Steel and Terry Harris from Hanson Concrete who provided the materials.
"The Sports Council was terrific - they embraced the idea. Council's Chris Cannard and Mark Tucker have always been a phone call away - it has been a nice, easy, open dialogue," Mr Johns said.
"Nathan Leach, Graham 'Squeak' Thompson and Mark 'Rocket' Ryan have all been tremendous. There has been so much community involvement and willingness of volunteers to finish the project.
"Cowra presents beautiful grounds and we wanted to present some great practice facilities and we're well and truly on the way to that now.
"We host a lot of things in Cowra in terms of cricket and we now have a terrific facility here to host a lot of our representative arrangements in terms of teams being picked, trial days, and representative fixtures.
"Hopefully, this will lead to an improvement in the quality of the cricketers coming through the ranks and better numbers. We have had Joe Kershaw (Country seniors), Amy Edgar (NSW under 18s) and Alana Ryan (Australian Honour side) in the last week that have been selected for higher levels and hopefully that can encourage players to continually strive to achieve.
"Our cricketers are making waves and finding paths to higher honours. If we provide them with the opportunity that is all we can do and through the efforts of Council and our committees this is an example of what can be achieved."
