Police seize housebreaking tools, knife after recovering stolen ute

Police have seized housebreaking tools and a knife from a Condobolin property after a pursuit of a ute stolen from Forbes last week.

Police attempted to stop the ute, reported stolen from Forbes last Wednesday, in Condobolin about 11.45pm on Saturday 31 May.

It's alleged the driver failed to stop as directed and police initiated a pursuit, a statement NSW Police released to media on Sunday said.

A short time later, a man and a woman left the vehicle on High Street, Condobolin, police arresting a 21-year-old man.

Police searched the ute and seized ammunition, a knife, housebreaking tools and methamphetamine.

With inquiries to identify the woman continuing, the man was taken to Condobolin Police Station where he was charged with 14 offences:

Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse

Assault police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm

Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty

Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension

Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen

Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority

Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner

Possess housebreaking implements

Refuse or fail to submit to breath test

Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly

Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

Possess prohibited drug

Custody of knife in public place, and

Breach of bail.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court via AVL on Sunday 1 June.
