Goldies going for gold in the big dance

Boorowa Rugby Club are standing on the edge of glory ahead of the South West Cup grand final this weekend, a win that would see the side hold the premiership for the first time in 16 years.

Following on from what has been a massive couple of seasons for the side the Goldies will be wrapping up a massive year on the field when they face off against local rivals the Harden Red Devils this Saturday at the Boorowa Rugby Club.

With only a single loss through the 2025 season the boys will be looking to hold the cup up at the end of the game on Saturday, having already defeated the Red Devils three times ahead of the big dance.

On top of their almost flawless season, the side have also put up some very convincing wins throughout the rounds.

In round one the side travelled to Condobolin to face off against the Rams and brought home the win 10-31.

Round two the boys smashed the Grenfell Panthers 48-7 before defeating the reining premiers Young in round three 5-39.

Round four the side hosted the Cootamundra Tri Colours and took the win 29-10, however, it was the massive and record breaking 90-7 win over the Temora Tuskers in round five that will sit with the side the most.

Round six the Goldies took out the Weevils at West Wyalong 22-31, before they defeated the Red Devils in Harden 17-31 and took an unanswered 48-0 over the Rams in round eight.

It was another massive win in round nine with the Goldies too strong for the Panthers in Grenfell winning 7-69 and the side taking out the Yabbies again 32-8 for round 10.

The Tri Colours could only answer the Goldies with 10 points to their 43 in round 11 at Cootamundra.

The Tuskers were out for revenge when they hosted round 12 and managed just that, taking the only win against the green and gold for the season in a very close game 32-31.

The Goldies came out fighting the following week, fired up by their loss and responded in another record breaking result 92-0 against West Wyalong.

The Red Devils were no match for the Goldies on July 26 only managing 5 in response to the 26 scored by the home side who easily secured the minor premiership in the final normal round of the season.

The side was up against the Red Devils once again in the major semi-final and managed to be too strong for the visitors securing the home grand final 27-20.

After a week off the side is fired up and ready to go one better than they did last season by holding the cup.
