The Canowindra community gathered for the official opening of the town centre and river precinct activation project on Friday. The project was jointly funded by all levels of government and Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty, the Hon. Andrew Gee MP, Member for Calare, and Mr Phil Donato MP, Member for Orange were all there to cut the ribbon.
Key works completed as part of the project include:
• Construction of a new suspension-style Swinging Bridge;
• Heritage-style street furniture installed along Gaskill Street and the river precinct;
• Widened footpaths and lighting linking the CBD with the river for improved pedestrian access;

• Wayfinding landscaping, including new palm trees outside the Swimming Pool and Age of Fishes Museum;
• A new accessible walking track on the northern side of the Belubula River linking the CBD, twin bridges and swinging bridge area;
• Pedestrian crossing points along Gaskill Street;
• Completion of new gardens and custom metal art panels at key public areas.
Cr Beatty acknowledged the staff,
"Projects like this do not happen without tremendous collective effort, from the big decisions to the small unseen contributions behind the scenes," Cr Beatty said.
"Today I'd like to acknowledge all those that were involved in this project and made it possible."
