Guerie dominates rugby clash at Canowindra

RUGBY UNION

A fleet-footed Guerie Goats side got the better of Canowindra's Pythons at Tom Clyburn Oval on Saturday.

The visitors pounced early to put first points on the board within minutes, and they never looked back as they established a 104-point win.

Club president Oli Groves acknowledged it was a tough day - but added the score board didn't represent how his side stepped up to meet the challenge.

"They definitely got the better of us but what we learned from today is definitely going to come into effect for games to come," he said.

Colby Burling played at fullback and had an outstanding kicking game, and Toby Fisher stepped up.

"Clancy (Duguid) seemed to be everywhere when we needed him, he put on a couple of big tackles as well," Groves said.

"Ty (Ashe) did very well for the amount of ball we had, and very well in defence too."

Tickets to the club's 50th anniversary celebrations have now sold out and those with tickets can now begin anticipating the big event.

It's all happening 12 July at Canowindra Sports Oval with juniors, women's and old boys games.
