Media and social media are part of everyday life shaping how we stay informed, connect with others, and share what matters.
Cowra Shire Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on its Draft Media and Social Media Policy, now on public exhibition.
This policy provides a framework to guide councillors and council staff when interacting with the media and operating in the online environment. It outlines council’s approach to communicating clearly, building trust, and engaging effectively with the community through both traditional and digital platforms. The aim is to ensure the policy reflects how people actually use and experience media today.
The media section of the policy refers to print, broadcast and online news platforms including newspapers, magazines, internet publishers, radio, and television. The social media section covers digital platforms such as social networking sites, blogs, video and audio-sharing sites, and online forums that allow users to publish and share content.
The draft policy is now available online, and council is encouraging all community members to read the document and have their say. Feedback received will help shape a final version that supports open, respectful and inclusive communication between Council and the Cowra community.
