President Margie opened our meeting, welcoming everyone.

Our Guest Speaker was unable to attend due to Mother’s Day arrangements at the local school.

Margie Ryan filled in as “Lady Behind the Badge”. Being born in Trangie, Margie enjoyed a wonderful, loving childhood. After primary school Margie boarded at St. Patricks College in Dubbo for High School. Once leaving school she began working as an office assistant until she married a local lad. Twenty years of happiness and 5 children later, unfortunately, her husband Bobby was killed in a car accident.

As the years passed the children had grown up, married and left home. In 1997 Margie married Len Ryan and has made many lovely friends both in Cowra and Canowindra.

In 2016 poor Margie was struck with another sad occasion when her daughter Katie passed away at the birth of her first baby. Now having 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, 10 girls and 1 boy she feels so blessed to know them as she travels into her twilight years. She celebrates every birthday as some don’t get the chance to enjoy old age.

Six ladies were wished Happy Birthday for May.

The trip to the Zig Zag Railway in September is now fully booked. James McInerney has offered to speak along the way about the Zig Zag and other railways. If anyone is still interested in the Zig Zag, we will start a waiting list in case some-one is unable to attend.

The Lake Jindabyne trip in November we now have 22 definite and 5 possible. We need 30 for the trip to go ahead.
