Championship experience for Ada

Canowindra's Ada Duff has returned from the NSW Rugby Union State Championship hosted in Dubbo with a wealth of new experiences on the footy field.

Ada was named most improved of a successful Central West junior rugby Under 14s team at the end of the tournament.

The U14 girls finished their NSW Junior Rugby Union State Championships third in Country and fifth in State.

Ada, who usually plays as a forward or prop, was selected for the squad after playing in two trials at Orange and three weekends of games based around the central west in the build up before the State Championships.

Ada said the selection involved competitive trial matches, along with the training sessions helped the coaches select the team from the field of around 60 players vying for a spot.

One of the highlights of playing with the squad, Ada said, was learning new skills along with better team communication and formats.

Ada said she found being able to play in bigger comps and with big competition was also a good experience.

Ada has been playing rugby since she was eight, joining the Canowindra Pythons after hearing about rugby through friends.

Coming back from the State Championships, Ada said she is planning on bringing back the new skills she learned to help improve the team.
