On Thursday, 26 June, 150 students from Canowindra High School embarked on a mission to Molong where they competed for the Rural Cup, claiming their fourth consecutive Rural Cup title.
The Rural Cup is an annual interschool sports competition between Molong High School and Oberon High School and has been running for many years.
Canowindra High School and Molong High School both defeated Oberon earlier in the year, and faced off on Thursday for the cup.
Canowindra High School's Zach Rue said they're on a bit of a streak, which the students are pretty proud of, but the Rural Cup is about having a sporting day and building connections.
Among the events contested at the Rural Cup are soccer, volleyball, badminton, rugby league, frisbee netball, basketball, super quiz and chess.

Mr Rue said it is a really big day for students and staff, but they had a really good crack at it.
Depending on the sports, there were boys teams, girls teams and mixed teams, which encouraged communication and morale building, Mr Rue said.
The sports were contested across year seven. junior and senior teams, with winning a game netting the victor 10 points, a draw giving 8 points and a loss giving 5 points.
After a toughly contested day of sports, Canowindra finished on 170 points to Molong's 150 points.Wins in sports such as Volleyball, Netball, Touch Football, League Tag and Badminton and Rugby league assisted Canowindra’s tally throughout the day, though the scores were still close approaching lunch.
After lunch Molong put on an impressive fightback with Canowindra only securing points in one of four fixtures.
Tough defeats in senior boys’ soccer and junior boys' touch placed a question mark on who would be the overall winner. However, the senior girls netball team provided some confidence ending the day with a victory.

Junior Boys: Tom Henry.
Junior Girls: Hayley Hampton.
Senior Boys: Luke De Hamer.
Senior Girls: Lillian Harrison.
