The Sir Doug Nicholls Round theme in 2025 is 'past legacies, future legends.'
The Cowra Blues recongise the enduring impact and future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our game and support the awareness of their history, culture and community.
From the early 80's when the club was first formed with the likes of Chris Saunders playing in our first ever team, a young Gavin Wanganeen in our under 15's team and his dad playing in the mid 80's, the Northern Territory lads in the early 90's, most of the Reids that have played a total of nearly 1700 games for the club, and other Cowra names like Williams, Coe, Kennedy, Collett, Ingram, Newton, Doolan, Roe and many others have left a lasting legacy on our footy club.
Indigenous players have won nearly a quarter of the club's senior men Best And Fairest medals. They represent 20% of the club's Hall Of Fame. They've filled a quarter of our coaching positions over 44 years, as well as serving on committees and being awarded life memberships.
The club looks forward to some of the younger players in today's teams following in the footsteps of these legacies and perhaps becoming future legends themselves.

Veteran player Mac Jeffries revealed a new jersey recognising the heritage of the team.
"I'm a Wiradjuri woman myself, I grew up in Cowra I played for the Blues many moons ago, I grew up in this area and we went right through school together and I'd watch Chris and Geoff play since I was a very, very young girl. We played here when I was in the juniors, and we came back when I moved back in 2019, and played in 2020 for the women's team. I've never gone back to Rugby League since, so I think I'm fully converted."
Speaking to the design of the jersey, Ms Jeffries said she was honoured to be asked to help with the design.
"When I was approached last year and they asked we designed the jersey for the club, I said I was honoured. The design incorporates community and family. I think that's something this club does really well. They always greet everyone back with open arms, and I think that's really important and you can all agree if you show up at a home game they'll never turn you away. Thank you so much for this opportunity."
