It seems like a long campaign, but I can guarantee that after you put those hours of study in, you will get where you want to be
- India Johnson
Olivia Perkins, who achieved an ATAR of 98.45 and was the state’s fourth highest ranked performer in the Aboriginal Studies course, said there is an immense satisfaction in achieving your aims.
“The best part of that was the satisfaction of having putting so much effort into it, and being able to reap the rewards of that.”
Olivia, who will be studying the Bachelor of Ancient Studies at Macquarie University, stressed the importance of her routine in helping to keep her on-task.
“Study timetables are your best friend,” she said.
“Time management and managing your subjects is the most important part.”
Other successful students echoed this sentiment.
“You’ve got to be able to work hard on your own accord,” India Johnson, who after achieving Band Six results in three subjects will be heading to the University of Wollongong to study primary education, said.
“It seems like a long campaign, but I can guarantee that after you put those hours of study in, you will get where you want to be.”
Jemima Sullivan, Jemma Pokoney and Georgia Lewis all excelled in their arts subject, with Jemima and Jemma scoring band sixes in Dance while Georgia scored a band six in Visual Arts.
Jemima said the main drive behind her push was to try and see how well she could do.
“I worked really hard, I came in after school, before school, in the holidays, just trying to perfect everything,” she said.
“I just really wanted to push myself.”
Jemima, who plans on working before eventually trying to serve a mission for her church, said it is important that students know its okay if they are unsure about their work throughout the year, as long as the effort is constant.
“Don’t stress if you don’t know what you’re doing right away, in terms of your major work,” she said.
“Your efforts definitely pay off, and your marks reflect what you put in.”
