Students were involved in creative, hands-on workshops run by UNSW students and Engineers without Borders volunteers Thomas Rowlatt, Lynelle Rohe, Debjani Pal and Jordan Cashel.
Volunteer Lynelle Rohe said it was great to be able to give back to the education system.
“We are students ourselves we aren’t that far out of High School so the trips help us relate to the students,” she said.
“During the program, kids get quite engaged in the activities which are designed to redefine what engineering is. It’s not just building bridges and roads, it’s about helping society through engineering”.
Cowra High School teacher, Melissa Pomering, said it was fantastic to have the Engineers without Borders volunteers visit.
“It’s fantastic to have them here again,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity and the kids really love it and it’s a great way to get the younger kids involved and thinking about taking our engineering STEM class.
