Forty-seven artists have delivered 107 art works to the Cowra Regional Art Gallery during the past week, and Cowra Art Group committee and helpers have prepared the Lachlan Valley Biennial Art Awards exhibition in the Gallery ready for judging by Orange Regional Gallery and Museum Director Bradley Hammond.
He will announce the five special Awards on October 13 during the official opening commencing at 6.30pm.
The Cowra Art Group organised the Awards with the support of Cowra Shire Council, Cowra Regional Art Gallery and wonderful local sponsors who will make the presentations to the winners tonight.
The major Award of $1,000 is the Barbara Bennett Memorial Award for the outstanding work in the exhibition, and there are four separate awards of $500.
Other members of the Art Group have been busy too with the Spinners preparing for their ‘hands-on’ display and demonstration in the Cowra Show Pavilion of “Fleece to Finished woolen article.”
Other members involved in the Cowra Show were the Monday artists led by Mary Ford, who received and hung the art works for the open Cowra Show Art Exhibition also in the Pavilion.
Other members have entered craft etc. in the Show as well as pursuing their usual preparations for Christmas and workshops.
The quilters are progressing well with seven Fiddle blankets completed for Bilyara with more in progress.
The next Social Morning tea will be October 22 in Ariel Piccles’ garden. Details available nearer the date.
