Octane, the current ICW Central West champion, will put his belt on the line against the current ICW World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Mezzenger.
Not only will the Central West title be on the line but so will the world heavyweight title making this a winner take all match.
“I’ve been training hard and I`m feeling healthy in the lead up to the big event in October,’’ Lanham said.
‘’I’ve been training with local boxing coach Hakon Berg at the PCYC which is really getting my cardio and endurance up, as well as weight training and long, uphill walks’’.
Despite back problems that forced Lanham into temporary retirement in 2013, the region`s defending champion is for the most part doing well leading into Cowra`s third locally run wrestling show.
“There are still times I`m in a lot of pain, but the increased training is strengthening my core which is supporting my damaged spine,” Lanham said.
“I know I’m taking a huge risk by continuing with the in-ring side of things but I feel I made the right decision, I feel complete again,” explains the fourteen-year veteran.
Lanham`s opponent is also a veteran of the Australian wrestling scene, having started his career all the way back in 1998.
“Rob is one of the few guys left who have an experience edge over me, plus he has a distinct size and strength advantage,” Lanham said.
Adding to the risk Lanham is taking by stepping into the ring with the current ICW World Heavyweight Champion is the fact he`s known as one of the most hard hitting and no-nonsense wrestlers around.
“I wrestled Rob back in March and truth be told I came back from Canberra with a concussion, whiplash and my back problems were severely aggravated, but that`s the risk we all take to entertain the fans,” says Lanham.
“Like last year, I`ll also be commentating on the pre-intermission part of the show which I love doing as it allows me to see the fans enjoying the show I worked so hard on,” says Lanham.
