TAFE NSW Civil Construction Earthworks teacher Terry Patteson said the Certificate III was run in Cowra for the first time due to strong industry demand, and hailed the course a success.
“We started out with 12 students and all 12 students successfully completed the course, so a 100 per cent completion rate is always very pleasing,” Mr Patteson said.
“The course was very intensive, so for all the participants to remain focused and committed to learning as much as possible was a great result for all involved.”
During the course participants learnt about safety, communications, controlling risk, hand and power tools, and the use of small plant equipment such as excavators and front-end loaders.
“This training is nationally accredited and can help these graduates forge a career in mining, quarrying, road works, civil construction and much more,” Mr Patteson said.
Cowra locals Justin Brian Toomey and Simon Roberts both graduated and said the course was extremely beneficial and they hoped to secure work with their new-found skills and accreditation.
