On May 29 the 15-year-old, who lived in Victor Street, told police that about 3.40pm on April 14, 1987 he was walking home from school along Victor Street.
He told police that as he walked past the side gate of Catherine Holmes’ home he saw Catherine and a male in the backyard arguing.
The boy told police the man struck Holmes across the face during the argument.
He provided police with only a limited description of the man.
Desperate for a breakthrough police organised for the young person to undergo hypnosis on June 2 that year.
During hypnosis the 15-year-old supplied a further description of the man and that he saw a white motor vehicle parked in Jindalee Circuit, outside Holmes’ premises at the time of the argument.
Calls for the man involved in the incident to come forward fell on deaf ears.
