A 34-year-old Cowra man has received a 12 month suspended sentence at Cowra Local Court on Wednesday, December 7. William Victor Doolan received the suspended sentence in relation to an common assault.

According to police facts around 1pm on October 26, Doolan was at a residence on Hood Street, Cowra when he and his victim entered into a heated argument, Doolan’s victim went into a bedroom of the residence still arguing with Doolan when the victim noticed Doolan holding a wristwatch in his right hand.
When the victim turned around Doolan threw the watch at his victim, which struck them in the head. Police were contacted and just prior to their arrival Doolan jumped a fence of the Hood Street residence and proceeded to a residence in Cooyal Street where he was eventually arrested.
Doolan’s solicitor Nadal Abdi said that his assault was on the lower end of the scale however Magistrate Peter Dare said that it was impossible to quantify these matters.
“It’s not a question of whether it was a soft wack or a hard wack you either did it or you didn’t,” Magistate Dare said.
Driving on Meth
A 36-year-old Cowra truck driver has been put on an 18 month good behavior bond and disqualified from driving for two years after being found guilty of driving under the influence of drugs at Cowra Local Court.
According to police facts Daniel Rodney Buckley was driving a semi-trailer for River Meats when it was observed by members of the public swerving over the road and nearly colliding with several cars.
Members of the public informed police of the Buckley’s driving who then stopped him near Katoomba, police observed Buckley appeared to be confused, restless, itchy, anxious, pinpoint pupils, had trouble walking and had freshly bleeding wounds, scabs and ulcers on his arms and legs.
Police took Buckley to hospital for the purpose of blood and urine testing. Buckley’s blood sample returned a positive reading for 0.10mg/L of Meth and 0.02mg/L of Amphetamine, according to a senior pharmacologist Buckley’s driving ability would have been compromised.
