September’s walks
You know it's wet when the Weddin Mountains are closed by National Parks and Wildlife Service due to the amount of rain and its effect on roadways. Even Upper Lachlan Bushwalkers (ULB) have needed to change or defer plans for walks.

We have managed two urban walks this month, but even the Chinese Tribute Garden walk by eleven members through Young was partly inaccessible. Not for a moment did we contemplate crossing the ford over Murringo Creek on the way back that day.
Just last Sunday three decided to spend a longer day in the magnificent gardens and gullies of Mount Wilson during their Spring Blossom Festival.
Plans for October
Wyangala's backwaters and creeks will have normally rare waterfalls on Sunday 2nd October, Geoff leading.
At least a couple of Cowra's Open Gardens will be visited on foot, Sunday 9th, Lesley deciding.
We're fully booked for three days of long walks in Leura, Katoomba and Wentworth Falls on the following weekend.
Geoff's going to need all the eyes, memory and ears to help count birds in the backyard of Conimbla's wooded hills and along Cherry Creek as part of the National Bird Survey on Sunday 23rd. The flow of the creek will determine how far we walk upstream.
To finish the month, a walk across Cowra's 'turtle' hills from the Lookout to PoW Campsite may go beyond, depending on who accompanies Judy on October 30th.
Meeting, October 4
This Tuesday at 7:30 pm at Cowra Services Club, we'll meet again (indoors), where you're always welcome to meet people, suggest walks and find out who we are!
We have most of November Sunday’s planned, right up to ULB's Christmas Party on Saturday 26th so keep in touch through one of us mentioned above or anyone you recognise in the photo. We need your keen eyes on the Birds in Backyards spotting walk.
Non-members are welcome on three walks as guests of ULB before joining, so there's no excuse for not enjoying our company, the exercise and the bush right at your doorstep.
