This is your chance to get some great native species free with Council giving-away 2800 trees, shrubs, and grasses, Technical Officer — Cowra Services, Mark Tucker explained.
National Tree Day takes place this year at Cowra Showground Sheep Pavilion on Sunday, July 31.
“We’ll be giving away native trees, shrubs and grasses tube stock from 9am but get in early, we finish up at about 12 noon, or earlier if stock runs out!” Mark said.
“National Tree Day is a fulfilling opportunity to connect with our community, to do something good for our local environment and benefit your health by spending some time in nature,” Mark added.

Research shows that spending time in nature is key to growing happier, healthier, calmer, smarter and closer, and there’s no better way to embrace these benefits than by taking part in this iconic environmental campaign.
“We are becoming increasingly-disconnected from the natural world, to the detriment of our health and happiness,” says Planet Ark’s National Tree Day Manager, Debbie Agnew.
“However, the impacts of just adding nature are significant, including benefits to mental and physical health and wellbeing.
“This year’s National Tree Day theme, ‘Grow More – Just Add Nature’, highlights how we can use the power of nature to help us reach our full potential in all aspects of our lives.
“We all need nature to thrive!” Debbie added.
Last year nearly 300,000 people took part at over 3500 sites across the country, planting more than 1.2 million native trees, shrubs and edibles and helping to green Australia.
Each year, around 3,000 preschools, kindies, primary and high schools across Australia take part in Schools Tree Day.
Students nation-wide have learnt how to plant, and care for the seedlings they grow.
Schools Tree Day 2016 will be on today Friday July 29, although events can be held at any time during the year.
Schools Tree Day can mark the beginning of a long-term environmental program, engaging your students in a fun, hands on activity that can reinforce their environmental, maths, science and creative arts learning or simply contribute to creating beautiful school grounds.
