Due to Morongla and Grenfell's losses on the weekend a win against the Coyotes would of all but secured a place in the top four but now Canowindra have left themselves the task of beating competition leaders Bowling Club.
On the Saturday, the Coyotes were too strong for Canowindra posting 172 and going onto win by a comfortable 63-run margin.
Canowindra had their opponents in trouble early picking up three quick wickets but a 69-run fourth wicket partnership between Ben Allen (38) and Craig Wills (79) changed the momentum.
Wills continued his fluent display once Allen departed showcasing how damaging he can be square of the quick.
He was eventually caught in gully off the bowling of debutant Austin Pengilly (3-28) and the Coyotes crumbled losing four wickets for nine runs.
Tim Starr and Brendan Traves were Canowindra's other multiple wicket takers.
Canowindra reply started poorly when Ben Schaefer (0) was caught nicking behind in the first over which brought Jacob Devlin to the crease.
Devlin (30) and Peter Guthrie (20) took the score to 48 but both lost their wickets in the space of four runs.
Continuous wickets fell and Canowindra were all out for 109.
Spin twins Josh Carmody and Scott Neville were crucial in defending the Coyotes total picking up three wickets each.
The Coyotes play Valleys this weekend in Young before their next match in the first week of the finals while Canowindra meet Bowling Club where they fate will be determined.
Meanwhile the Young Blues knocked over Grenfell on Saturday leaving Grenfell with an outside chance of making the finals when they tackle Morongla. They will need to win and hope both Valleys and Canowindra lose.
The Blues have they bye but are already in the finals.
