The Cowra Musical and Dramatic Society's production of the beloved musical attracted audiences young and old alike, with the last three performances selling out.
Lawrance Ryan, who played the Tin Man, said the production had been fantastic.
"It's run really smoothly and it's been a team effort," he said.
"This one seemed to strike a cord with the community."
The cast featured actors from four to 75 years of age and director Robyn Ryan based the production off the movie version of the musical.
Mr Ryan, who has played the Tin Man in three Wizard of Oz productions, including the last one in Cowra in 1992, says there were some difficulties to playing the iconic character.
"The costume is incredibly hot," he said.
"It takes two people to get me bolted in it."
Despite the wardrobe difficulties, Mr Ryan says it's been one of the best productions the Society has ever put on.
"We've loved it, it's been the best version of The Wizard of Oz," he said.
"We've had a great audience response and a number of good comments."
